About Connor

I am a professional musician and teacher based in London, with a First Class BMus and Distinction MPerf from the Royal College of Music.

Alongside teaching, I perform professionally as a tuba player and have worked with major UK orchestras including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, and BBC National Orchestra of Wales, frequently appearing as Guest Principal Tuba. I have also performed internationally with Chicago the Musical on European and international tours.

Teaching is an important part of my career. I currently teach brass and piano with London music services and regularly work with young musicians through the Junior Department at the Royal College of Music. I am also involved in ensemble coaching and youth music projects, including work with the National Youth Concert Band.

I enjoy teaching because music can be life-changing when it is introduced in the right way. My aim is to create supportive and enjoyable lessons, helping beginners of all ages develop confidence, musical skills, and a lasting enjoyment of playing.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to be supportive, engaging, and tailored to each individual student. I specialise in teaching complete beginners of all ages, helping students build confidence and strong musical foundations from the very start.

In lessons we focus on developing good technique, musical understanding, and enjoyment of playing. Students will learn how to read music, understand rhythm, and develop listening skills, while also working on simple pieces that make learning rewarding and motivating.

I teach piano and brass instruments, including trumpet, cornet, tenor horn, and other brass instruments. Lessons can be adapted depending on your goals, whether you’re learning for enjoyment, starting music for the first time, or working towards graded exams.

Lessons are suitable for children, teenagers, and adult beginners, and I always adapt my teaching approach to suit each student’s pace and interests.

My goal is to help every student feel comfortable, make steady progress, and enjoy making music.
