About Griff
I hold a Bachelor of Music in World Music (Guitar Traditions) and have spent the last 5 years helping students turn technique into artistry. My lessons blend academic understanding with the real-world feel of modern guitar. I love teaching both young learners discovering the fretboard and adults looking to master shred performance. Every session focuses on precision, rhythm, and control. We’ll build technical speed through efficient hand movement and smart exercises. I emphasize tone clarity even at extreme tempos. Students learn alternate picking, sweep patterns, and tapping with relaxed efficiency. My approach balances theory and ear training to make fast playing feel natural. We study phrasing and composition from metal, progressive rock, and global traditions. I encourage curiosity, discipline, and individuality in every player. Progress comes from consistency and creativity working together. Lessons are structured, yet personal to each musician’s style. Together, we’ll develop technique that speaks — fast, fluid, and full of expression.

My methodology centers on training the ear to guide the hands. Music begins with listening, and my lessons help students hear the details that make songs come alive. We focus on ear training, transcribing, and melodic dictation from the very first stages. Students learn to recognize intervals and chord types through both exercises and real songs. I tailor each session to the learner’s goals and style. The Campfire Strummer gains rhythm-based ear coordination through folk and pop tunes. The Blues Seeker learns to identify bends, slides, and phrasing nuances found in classic blues solos. I emphasize connecting sound with emotion and movement. Students practice hearing before playing, which builds deep musical understanding. Every activity develops awareness of pitch, tone, and groove. My lessons promote musical independence by reducing dependence on written material. With patience and consistency, your ear will lead your playing naturally. Soon, you’ll recognize melodies and chord progressions instantly.
