About Ashley
I am an advanced doctoral student in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) with a completed dissertation and a concentration in Global Mental Health. My academic journey has given me deep expertise in psychology while also shaping my relational and supportive teaching approach. I have tutored students from high school through graduate school in psychology, writing, and test preparation. What sets me apart is the way I combine doctoral-level training with a humanistic style of teaching. I focus on helping students connect material to their own interests and perspectives so that concepts feel meaningful and engaging. Students can rely on me to bring respect, patience, enthusiasm, and encouragement to every lesson. My pedagogy is rooted in a relational, humanistic approach that balances dialogue and action-based learning. I view teaching and learning as a collaborative process where knowledge is co-created rather than delivered in a “one-size-fits-all” manner. Instead of rigid lesson plans, I emphasize dialogue, curiosity, and reflection, helping students engage with psychology in ways that are meaningful to them. I encourage critical thinking and interpretation, supporting students not only in understanding concepts but also in developing their own voice as learners and writers.
A typical session begins by exploring what the student is working on and what feels most challenging. From there, we build a conversation around the material, weaving in explanation, discussion, and applied examples as needed. Together, we then develop an action plan and tackle tasks or problems collaboratively. I check in frequently to ensure the pace and depth feel right, tailoring the flow of each lesson to the student’s unique needs and goals. Students leave with greater clarity, confidence, and new ways of approaching their work.
What sets me apart is the combination of my advanced doctoral training in Clinical Psychology (PsyD, dissertation completed) and my experience tutoring across a wide range of subjects and levels, from high school through graduate school. I specialize in areas that often feel daunting for students, such as APA writing, qualitative methods, dissertation coaching, and complex concepts within both theoretical and applied psychology. I bring academic expertise together with a relational style that makes learning feel accessible and collaborative.
My lessons are designed for undergraduates navigating psychology coursework, graduate students working through advanced topics or dissertation projects, and high school students beginning to explore psychology.
