About Xici
I graduated summa cum laude from both my bachelor’s degree in piano performance at the University of Houston as well as my master's degree at The University of Texas at Austin. I am currently pursuing my DMA degree at UT Austin. I have competed extensively in many international youth competitions throughout Asia since age 9, and have made my solo debut concert at the age of 10. My teachers include Andrew Brownell, Andrew Staupe, Nancy Weems, and Stanislav Ioudentich. Aside from being a performer, I have also shown tremendous interest and passion in piano pedagogy, I have studied piano pedagogy with Dr. Margarita Denenburg who oversees the piano pedagogy department at The University of Texas at Austin, and I had been teaching for the piano project under Dr. Denenburg’s guidance.

I am a super flexible and patient teacher. Depending on your interest and goals, I will curate a customized learning experience for you. I have experience in teaching from method books such as the Faber piano adventures, Alfred's basic piano library, as well as the Faber Adult Piano adventures. But I am also open to jumping straight to music you are interested in learning as well. I focus on building a good relaxed technique for my students from the very beginning so that it will be beneficial for them for their long term results. The lesson will consist of two main component: technique building (scales, arpeggios, chords) and song learning! I am super serious and passionate about teaching and I even have a timer set aside to make sure I am giving you the maximum lesson length you paid for. My technique building approach come from a long line of famous Russian pianists I have studied with in the past and it has benefited me so profoundly. I am taking students from all levels and ages currently!
