I base my classes on the individual. Students will be asked to present a collection of songs they wish they would have written. I will then form a lesson plan geared toward showing not only how the song is played, but WHY certain notes are played from a music theory point of view. Why waste time in the beginning, when the most is absorbed, learning fingerstyle patterns and rag time when all you want to do is learn Metallica’s ‘Kill ‘em All’ album?
