About Joshua

Hi, I’m Joshua, a professional actor currently performing in London’s West End. With over 8 years of experience on stage and screen, 5 years of intensive training, and 3 years of audition coaching, I’m passionate about helping aspiring performers succeed in their drama school auditions.

I began my journey at the Birmingham Ormiston Academy, where I trained for two years before being accepted into multiple top-tier drama schools, including ArtsEd, GSA, and Mountview. I ultimately chose to train at the Guildford School of Acting, where I completed three years of rigorous musical theatre training on an Andrew Lloyd Webber Scholarship.

I specialize in guiding students through every stage of the audition process—from choosing the perfect material to refining technique, diction, and confidence—while demystifying what panels are looking for. My teaching approach is interactive, tailored to your unique strengths, and rooted in my professional experience, giving you the skills to excel.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked with hundreds of students, helping them gain entry into prestigious institutions and develop as artists. My professional credits include leading roles in West End productions of Next to Normal, Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma, Wind in the Willows, and A Christmas Carol. Most recently, I appeared in the BBC1 crime thriller The Jetty and am currently voicing the lead narrator for an Audible audiobook.

With firsthand experience navigating the audition process and transitioning into the professional world, I’ll help you unlock your full potential and take the next step toward achieving your dreams. Let’s work together to make your audition a success!

About the lesson

My teaching approach is relaxed, personal, and tailored to your individual needs. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I aim to create a supportive environment where you can thrive. Each session is customized to help you feel confident and prepared for every aspect of your auditions.

I guide students through key topics, including:

Effective introductions and making strong first impressions
Understanding the panel and what they’re looking for
Selecting the perfect audition material
Developing vocal technique for singing
Crafting impactful monologues
Mastering diction and dialect
Building confidence and overcoming nerves
Preparing for dance calls and fitness requirements
Auditions can be intimidating, but my goal is to demystify the process and help you approach them with clarity and confidence. I also provide insights into what to expect during your time at drama school, sharing tips and strategies to make the most of your training years and prepare for a successful career in the performing arts.
