  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

Answer: I started to develop interest in understanding how businesses manage finances and create goals to grow in the future. This led me to study ACCA where subjects like Audit, Financial management and Management accounting helped me appreciate the practical side of the field and how closely it connects to real business situations.

My interest in tutoring developed naturally. My study method from the very beginning used to be like having an imaginary class and teaching the concepts to them. This reinforced my brain to learn, understand and memorise concepts effectively. Upon realising how this learning method led me to first time pass success in every ACCA exam, I decided to convert the imagination into reality. Eventually, I realised that this is something I truly enjoyed, especially seeing a student finally understand a concept and be able to pass their exams.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

Answer: I mainly teach Accounting, Finance, Audit, and Business-related subjects, including ACCA papers such as AAA, AFM, PM, and Management Accounting topics.

The topics I enjoy teaching the most are the ones that the students find initially difficult such as complex financial and audit areas. I enjoy breaking down the complex topics and like to show how understanding combined with logic can make the question solving easier, ultimately boosting the confidence of the student.

Some technical areas can have a variety of detail and complexity of application and methods but I believe that even such topics can be handled easily if taken step by step with patience from both the student and the tutor.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Answer: I looked up to the tutors who taught me ACCA. Since ACCA is a technical and demanding qualification, the approach of the tutors in breaking down the complex topics, working with time management, students' needs and their emphasis on exam techniques and tips was something I truly admired.

They taught me how to adapt to a student's baseline of concepts and create a flexible environment for the student to not only understand the content but also question the existence of ideas, ultimately helping their growth in the field.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Answer: A good tutor is the one who matches the pace of the student and respects their learning capabilities. They do not limit their role to simply delivering a lecture. A good tutor facilitates engagement from both sides, ensures clear understanding before proceeding to the next topic and makes the students comfortable in knowing that they can ask the tutor questions as many times as they wish.

A good tutor does not aim to just complete the lecture. Their goal extends to caring about student's understanding and making them capable of handling the topic with ease even after the tutor no longer teaches them. Creating a flexible environment for the student is a key quality of a good tutor.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

Answer: One thing I noticed during my studies in the school was that the students thought that professional level subjects can easily be passed through memorising the technical rules. However, once I started to understand the logic behind the key concepts and apply it under exam timed questions, the subjects became much more manageable.

This approach helped me to pass all my ACCA exams in the first attempt.

This experience has strongly shaped how I teach today. I encourage the students to understand the 'Why' behind the concept rather than memorising the isolated steps. It not only improves the exam performance but also helps with long term confidence in the subject.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Answer: One challenge I faced during my studies was learning how to move the theoretical content into professional application, especially in advanced subjects like Audit, Financial Reporting and Financial management.

Professional exams heavily test judgement, application and exam technique so developing those skills took time and practice.

Even now, I continue improving by staying updated to the changes in Accounting standards, Exam questions and better teaching methods so i can support my students more effectively
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Answer: I enjoy teaching because I genuinely like helping students become more confident in the subject they once found difficult. I also enjoy creating structured notes, solving exam-style questions, and helping students improve their approach to studying and exams.

Outside teaching, I also enjoy creative work and digital illustration, which I think helps me bring a more visual and structured approach into my lessons as well.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?

Answer: I believe that what distinguishes me as a tutor is my emphasis on simplicity, patience, and an exam-oriented approach.
My classes are always arranged based on the objectives of the student – if they require assistance in comprehending certain topics, completing their homework, or preparing for upcoming examinations. While I emphasize making complicated concepts easier for them to grasp, I also teach them how to answer questions efficiently and gain marks.
Additionally, I organize workings and explanations in Excel and Word formats for revision purposes. Above all, I strive to create a relaxed atmosphere during our classes.
