About André

Recording, producing and working with music and sound is an art that does not need an natural talent. The ear, in a way, is a muscle that can be trained like almost any other. Starting at the source and ending at the explanation is my way of teaching. It may not make much sense to talk about equalization without first talking about sound waves, frequencies and amplitudes, or talking about compression without first talking about dynamic range. We will start with important concepts for a good learning around a DAW in a recording / post-production studio, learning and working on essential practices for a good methodology around engineering, and if all goes well, reaching and understanding the art to producing, working and living with sound, music, people and industry.

About the lesson

Sound engineer, sound designer, musician and producer. I started my career at Restart- Instituto in music creation and composition course. After moving to Manchester, I majored in sound engineering at the School of Sound Recording (2014) and had the pleasure of working as a Sound Designer at Longshot Production House and Clementine things (for which I still work today). I interned at LoudHailer Studios, and worked as a studio technician at Spirit Studios. Today I work as a freelance sound engineer, and as an academic professor at Bolton University. I am a sound engineer certified by Allen & Heath (D-Live), Avid (Pro Tools 210P) and Apple (Logic Pro X).
