About Tamara
Throughout my career, I've learned that academic success is about much more than earning good grades—it's about developing the confidence to ask questions, think critically, solve problems, and continue learning throughout life. Knowledge is important, but curiosity, resilience, and intentional learning habits are what create lasting success.
As a Doctor of Education, college professor, curriculum developer, and educator, I've dedicated my career to bridging the gap between education and professional practice. My coaching helps adult and college students develop the learning strategies, confidence, and practical skills needed to succeed academically while preparing for the expectations they'll encounter in college, the workplace, and beyond.
My coaching style is supportive, personalized, and rooted in professional practice. I believe every learner brings unique strengths, experiences, and goals to the learning process, so I tailor each coaching session to meet you where you are. Whether you're returning to school after time away, balancing college with work and family responsibilities, strengthening your writing and study skills, or preparing for the next stage of your education, you'll receive honest feedback, practical strategies, and encouragement every step of the way.
I believe the most valuable lessons aren't simply about completing assignments or earning higher grades—they're about developing the confidence to think critically, communicate effectively, solve problems independently, and become a lifelong learner. Those are the skills that continue to create opportunities long after a course has ended.

Academic success is about much more than earning good grades—it's about developing the confidence, strategies, and critical thinking skills that support lifelong learning. My coaching is designed to help adult and college students become more confident, independent learners while building the habits and skills needed for success both inside and outside the classroom.
With experience teaching and mentoring college students from diverse educational and professional backgrounds, I bridge the gap between academic expectations and real-world success. Together, we'll focus not only on completing assignments, but also on understanding how to learn more effectively, think critically, communicate clearly, and develop the confidence to overcome academic challenges.
Every student brings different strengths, challenges, and experiences to the learning process. My coaching is designed to meet you where you are, build on those strengths, and provide practical strategies you can continue using throughout your academic and professional journey.
Our coaching sessions can include:
Study strategies and effective learning techniques
Time management and organization
Academic writing and research skills
Reading comprehension and critical thinking
Project planning and long-term assignment management
College readiness and returning to school
Graduate school preparation
Presentation and communication skills
Building confidence as an adult learner
Responsible and effective use of AI as a learning tool
Developing independent learning habits and academic resilience
Whether you're beginning college, returning to school after time away, balancing work and education, or preparing for graduate study, every coaching session is personalized to your goals, experience, and learning style.
My goal isn't simply to help you complete assignments or improve your grades. My goal is to help you become a confident, independent learner who understands how to think critically, communicate effectively, and continue learning long after our coaching sessions have ended.

Tamara played a pivotal role in shaping the foundation of my career. As I worked through my last few years of graduating college to landing my first job, her guidance was instrumental — and the impact of her mentorship continues to resonate today as a Principal Designer at a major tech company.
What sets Tamara apart is her genuine investment in her students. She doesn't just teach — she provides hands-on coaching, helps students seek out opportunities, and goes above and beyond to champion their growth. She is supportive, personable, and deeply committed to seeing her students succeed in every way she can.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Tamara to anyone looking for a mentor and educator who truly cares about her students' futures.Tamara was the Sr. Academic Chair of my major during my time at the Art Institute. Not only was she there to bridge the gap between the staff and admin, but she was also there for the students. She was always willing to listen and was diplomatic about decisions.
I studied under Tamara during my time at the Art Institute, where she led as Academic Director. She had a genuine passion for design education, and the program felt purposeful and well-directed. I'd recommend her to anyone looking for a professional and committed tutor.
Tamara was my college advisor and mentor. Because I worked full-time to pay for college and was unable to take a traditional internship, Tamara worked with me and my schedule and offered me the opportunity to work on her website for my internship requirements. She helped me navigate my course load, reviewed my portfolio, and helped me secure a position in the design studio course (reserved for only a handful of top performing students every year). I now have over 10 years experience
in design, art direction, and advertising. I have won a National Addy Award and an Emmy - made possible by Tamara’s guidance and mentorship during my college years.Tamara and I have been friends for more than two decades. We worked together at a post-secondary school as teachers. She advanced her career as an academic advisor and then as Assistant Dean of Education, while still maintaining a presence in the classroom. She is a most competent instructor, primarily because of her attention to detail and the comprehensive feedback she provides to her students. I can highly recommend Tamara for any position that involves teaching, instruction, or tutoring.
I was a student in Tamara's class at RMU. She taught me how to break out of my creative box. She is an excellent teacher who listens and guides well.
I was a student of Tamara Pavlock's while attending Pittsburgh Technical College for Graphic Design, 2018-20. During my time under her instruction, I felt that she maintained a critical eye while balancing endearing articulation. She was altogether classy and knowledgeable about corporate expectations. Not only was she intelligent, she was compassionate. I found that she made a remarkable impact on my life, even to this day.
Tamara is a great teacher! I met her through a different platform and loved her. Not only is she super nice, but she is very experienced and makes it fun and easy to learn.
Tamara is very detail-oriented and organized. She is by far one of the best instructors I had while pursuing a Bachelors of Science Degree in Graphic Design. Her ability to provide meaningful guidance and purposeful leadership strengthen the learning purpose. I highly recommend Tamara for any mentorship or educational role.
