About Begoña

I teach classes in four areas of specialization (all levels):

-SPANISH FOR FOREIGNERS
-CREATIVE WRITING (Narrative and poetry)
-SPANISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE (ESO, Baccalaureate and EvAU preparation)
-DRAWING AND PAINTING (figurative and abstract; in different techniques and media)

ONLINE classes (Skype or Zoom) or IN-PERSON classes (in Madrid: Retiro area, near Atocha Renfe).

Writing is one of my passions, that's why I studied Law and Political Science: I wanted to learn to tell meaningful and persuasive stories. The other area of my dedication is painting.

I try to combine drawing and painting with my love for words. I have written plays, monologues, stories and poetry. I have a blog about art and I am currently writing my first novel.

I have more than 10 years of experience teaching private and group classes. The classes are adapted to the level, methodology and objectives of each student; as well as the topic of interest of the student.

To teach each of the disciplines, I use a specific method that I have developed during my years of experience so that the student efficiently learns the necessary steps to acquire all the resources and skills.

At this moment I am developing a website for learning Spanish and another for studying drawing and painting. You will have them available shortly!

Before starting classes I check the student's level, ask them about their objectives and propose a personal learning plan.

I speak Spanish, English, Italian and French.

For any questions or concerns, leave me a message and I will respond right away.

Paul Valéry said that poetry can be learned, but not taught, and I agree. For this reason, I offer to accompany you in the discovery of the tools that poetry uses, the history of this art and in the search for your themes and your own voice as a poet. By exploring together what renowned poets have written about their craft, their practice, their drive and, of course, their work, you can begin your path of learning.

We will study techniques and tools such as rhythm, meter and tropes, with practical examples of great poems from the history of literature. From this, I will offer you exercise proposals so that little by little you can build complete and complex poems.

Furthermore, if you are interested, you can complement the development of your poetic work through painting, specifically abstract painting, which, like poetry, allows us to say what we do not know and allows us to ask questions throughout the process. You can explore creating abstractions in different mediums: watercolor, gouache, acrylic or oil. I will teach you the pillars of painting that apply to abstract painting.

In addition, we will see how to carry a notebook in which to combine painting and writing, or just one of the two, so that you can develop your art anywhere, letting yourself be inspired by the environment and nature.

Writing poetry is painting with words and requires the poet's attentive gaze. At the same time, painting is silent poetry. But you don't need to get into the painting if you don't want to. With Saint John of the Cross, Emily Dickinson, Walt Whitman, Anne Sexton and so many poets, there is plenty to work with.

Rediscovering literature is a way to face the blank page and obtain pleasure in reading and writing. As Borges said: “I have spent my life reading, analyzing, writing (or trying to) and enjoying. I have discovered that the latter is the most important thing.”

Because language is more than a means of communication, it is a passion and a pleasure and with the program that I have developed so that you can learn poetry we will find both things, knowledge and enjoyment.

Although it may seem that poetry is an abstract and difficult field to enter, we constantly search for it, because we search for life, which is made of poetry and does not offer them at every moment.
