About V Karthikgayan
I'm a Malaysian pianist currently pursuing my Trinity ATCL Diploma. I've completed ABRSM Grade 8 Piano and Theory with Distinction, attended masterclasses with experienced instructors, and competed in national and international competitions.
Music theory is a particular passion of mine because it explains why music works, not just what notes to play. I often create my own reference scores to help students visualise concepts and build a deeper understanding of what they're playing.
I work best with students who want to learn at their own pace — whether you're picking up piano for fun, building a strong foundation, or pursuing a deeper musical understanding. My lessons focus on clarity, confidence, and enjoyment, and I aim to make every session feel approachable and meaningful, never pressured.

ABRSM Grade 8 (Distinction) piano & theory tutor — patient, structured lessons for ages 7 and above
I'm a pianist, percussionist, and music teacher who believes lessons should feel like the highlight of a student's week — not a chore.
I teach one-on-one piano and music theory, either online or physical classes (covering Kota Kemuning / Rimbayu / Shah Alam)
I've also been picking up percussion for the past two years and now perform in ensembles at orchestral events. Active performance keeps my musicianship sharp and shapes how I teach rhythm, phrasing, and listening at the keyboard.
How I teach : Every student starts with a trial lesson so I can understand your goals and learning style, then I build a personalised plan balancing technique, theory, sight-reading, and musicality. I welcome complete beginners (from age 7) , up to Grade 5 ABRSM and also anyone who simply wants to enjoy the piano more.

ABRSM Music Theory — Distinctions at every grade up to Grade 8
Currently pursuing Trinity ATLC Performance Diploma
