About Dhiya

My name is Dhiya, and I am 22 years old. I am a fifth-year medical student at the University of the Witwatersrand, with a strong academic background and distinctions in all 7 of my matric subjects. I understand firsthand the discipline, consistency, and hard work needed to succeed academically, and I aim to help my students develop those same habits, skills, and confidence.

My tutoring approach is professional, structured, and centred around accountability. As someone who is genuinely passionate about both teaching and learning, I am committed to helping students strengthen the areas they find challenging and guiding them towards reaching their academic goals. Through patience, consistency, encouragement, and hard work, I aim to help each student reach their full potential and become a more confident, capable learner.

About the lesson

I offer relaxed, patient, and supportive Afrikaans and Maths lessons for learners from Grade 1 to Grade 11. My teaching approach focuses strongly on genuine understanding rather than memorisation, as I believe students perform best when they truly understand the work they are doing. I teach concepts step-by-step from the ground up, starting with the basics and gradually building towards more advanced and challenging problems.

Lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs, learning pace, and goals. A typical lesson involves working through examples together, identifying areas that need improvement, practising problem-solving techniques, and strengthening understanding through clear, interactive explanations. I aim to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions, making mistakes, and developing belief in their own abilities.

I offer online lessons with flexible scheduling, including weekday evenings and weekends. My lessons are ideal for learners who need extra support, want to strengthen their foundations, improve their marks, prepare for tests and exams, or simply build greater confidence in their abilities.
