About Erin
I am a mature 5th-year medical student with a previous degree in English. Before entering medical school, I returned to education and completed A-levels in Biology and Chemistry, achieving an A grade in both. Having successfully navigated the journey from A-level study through medical school applications and now into the final stages of my medical degree, I understand both the academic demands of applying to medicine and the challenges of progressing through medical school itself.

My approach to tutoring is friendly, supportive and tailored to the individual student. I believe students learn best when they understand the reasoning behind a topic rather than simply memorising information. I therefore focus on breaking complex concepts down into manageable steps before using active recall, practice questions, clinical scenarios and discussion to consolidate understanding.
For medical school applicants, sessions can include MMI and traditional interview preparation, mock interviews, communication skills, medical ethics, discussing work experience effectively, application support and developing confident and authentic responses to common interview themes. Having entered medicine as a mature student following a previous degree and career, I can also offer a particularly useful perspective to graduate and non-traditional applicants.
For current medical students, I offer support with medical school examinations, clinical and pre-clinical medicine, OSCE preparation, history taking, clinical reasoning, developing differential diagnoses and approaching question-bank style examinations. I particularly enjoy using clinical scenarios to help students move beyond simply memorising facts and instead understand how their knowledge applies to real patients and exam situations.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes and are tailored to the student's individual goals. A session will usually begin by identifying areas of difficulty or topics the student would like to focus on, followed by targeted teaching and then active application through questions, cases, mock scenarios or interview practice. I encourage students to talk through their reasoning so that we can identify gaps in understanding and build both knowledge and confidence.
Alongside my medical training, my background in English and professional experience in communication-focused roles has given me strong skills in explaining ideas clearly, structuring arguments and communicating confidently. This is particularly valuable when preparing students for medical school interviews, OSCEs and other situations where they need to demonstrate not only their knowledge, but also their ability to communicate it effectively.
My lessons are suitable for prospective medical students, including school-leaver, graduate and mature applicants, as well as current medical students looking for additional academic, clinical or exam support. Every session is adapted to the student's level, learning style and individual goals.

I honestly couldn’t recommend my tutor highly enough. They helped me enormously with both A-Level Biology and Chemistry, breaking down difficult topics and explaining them in a way that finally made everything click.
They were incredibly patient, knowledgeable and supportive, and always adapted the lessons to the areas I was struggling with most. As well as improving my understanding, they helped me with exam technique, confidence and how to approach difficult questions.
Their support played a huge part in helping me pass my A-Levels, and I’m genuinely so grateful for all the time and effort they put into helping me. If you’re looking for a Biology or Chemistry tutor who genuinely cares about their students and gets results, I would 100% recommend them. ️️️️️Erin is very lovely and such a good teacher. She takes her time to explain things thoroughly and checks your understanding throughout. Would highly recommend!
