About
Hi! My name is Jacob Gehlbach, and I teach piano, production, and composition lessons in New York City. My own musical background comprises a rich variety of styles, mediums, and experiences. Since being classically trained since the age of five, piano has always been my home instrument. However, along my musical journey I have also picked up trumpet, voice, drums, guitar, and bass. I was also lucky to attend NYU for Music Theory and Composition, an experience that gave me invaluable knowledge and skills in music production and composition. And finally, my performances have given me the opportunity to share my music and resonate deeply with the humanity in others.
I believe the most important responsibility for a mentor is to ignite a student’s inner passion for music. The most influential teachers I’ve ever had in my own life have been those who have not just given me information, but have also given me a reason to learn.
All my experiences in music could not be possible without two things: the collection of resources, information, and experiences to learn from, and a burning passion within to be a great musician. I strive to provide both in my private lessons. By connecting with each student personally, I will help students discover their inspirations, motivations, and their goals in music. Then, I’ll teach them how to get there.
