About Stephen
I have an extensive background in music production and live DJ performance, which I can work to impart that knowledge from either skillset on to you via in-person or virtual lessons online.
I've been a creative for 7 years. I have a genuine passion that drives my continual desire to learn and develop more as I enjoy a lot of electronic dance music, listening to it, playing it and making it.
I've had the privilege of playing at a few venues and shows at Planet Wax, Devine Radio London and Phase Croydon (quite a proud moment being on a short while before Bou) to name a few, selecting my own music, as well as artists I look up to when performing.
I'm very keen to help nurture new talent in a way that I wish people had been able to teach me as I know there is a huge amount of ground to cover.

When working with me to learn production it will be my aim to help you learn and develop your sound, whether you're at a beginner, intermediate or advanced level, so you can go forth and create amazing music.
I will work with you to understand your level, needs, goals and develop bespoke lessons tailored to your development in whatever you desire to learn.
Music Production Lessons:
I’ve been writing music since 2018. I specialise in electronic dance music (Drum & Bass, House, Garage/UKG and Bassline). - I can help to teach you music theory, track arrangement, sound design, sampling, utilising your stock plugins or many of the paid ones out there, regardless of if you work within Ableton 12 or Logic Pro/Pro X, whilst also helping you attain greater awareness of your DAW features so you can maximise your use of them.
Mixing & Mastering Lessons:
I can help to teach you mixing in the following ways. How to work with making sure your track has enough headroom prior to mastering by gain-staging your mix. Using EQs for soft and surgical approaches to your tracks/stems. Understanding how to use side-chains. Stereofield concepts to understand and apply for panning instruments, understanding mono and its applicability in music. Saturation and distortion techniques. The correct use of limiters/maximisers, clippers, compressors and multiband compressors, and about the different types to use depending on the project depending on its specific needs.
I can also teach you how to do a soft master by training you on the correct use of tools for your tracks to get them ready to submit to labels helping you gain greater perceived loudness. I can also provide general information on music promotion and platforms for distribution, basic copyright and answer most other questions you may have.
DJ Lessons:
When it comes to DJing, I can teach in-person on either Technics SL-1210s so you can learn vinyl or Pioneer CDJs, teaching you how to mix and blend a range of genres (DNB, Garage (UKG), Breaks, House, Grime, Hip-Hop, Dubstep).
I will teach you about phrasing, beat matching, counting bars and getting you club ready, as well as providing more general advice to make sure you’re also protecting your hearing.

I can also provide more general tutelage of how to correctly use Rekordbox and Serato softwares (Serato more so for the use of controllers if you have one), where to find vinyls or digital music.
