About Ashley
Prior to teaching history, I was a long time sports coach. I coached athletes from ages 5-55+ for a global sporting organization. I developed a strong foundation through my experience in sport. During my university years, I worked as an international master trainer. This position required me to develop coaching curriculums and judging programs worldwide. I enjoyed this work and it required me to effectively instruct many athletes and officials from around the world. Later, I completed my bachelors degree in History with a minor in Native Studies, from the University of St. Thomas with Honours and Distinction. In fall 2023 I completed my Masters in History from the University of New Brunswick, where I am currently pursuing my PhD. I am a student, but also an instructor. I currently teach part time with St. Thomas University and TA courses at the University of New Brunswick.

History is an incredible fundamental subject to take interest in! However, at times it can be difficult to understand key aspects of the past. My lessons are meant to be engaging and encourage students to think globally and independently. Historical topics offer amazing insight into better understanding the challenges of today. My goal is always to connect history with the events of our present. Students should expect clear guidelines or assignment expectations. My goal is to keep the focus on classes remaining exciting and enjoyable. Learning does not need to be a painful and stressful experience to be effective. Ensuring students enjoy the process, means they retain more of the information and develop a healthier relationship with the process of coming to knowledge.
