About Joshua
I'm an emerging technology engineer. I teach because I enjoy it. My teaching style is relaxed but with some structure to keep things chill and make progress. I have worked on loads of interesting projects. My other job is to design applications for new technologies. This normally involves coming up with something simple using something complicated. I then present it in an interesting way to a group of people without an engineering background. I find people appreciate walking away with some new understanding. I've worked on developing levitation and 3D printing technologies with the University of Bristol (concepts, software, electronics and physics). Developing wildlife trackers to track Terrapin Turtles across beaches in the USA and SE Asia. Citizen Science air quality projects around the UK. I developed performance measurement tools for the British Olympic sailing team and at one point taght the team the physics of sailing.

I teach by breaking things down into simpler parts and explain each in a few different ways until you feel confident with it. I will explain concepts then work through a simple example with you and build from there. This can be design, mathematics, software or hardware. In the first lesson we'll talk about which parts you need some help with and make a plan you are happy with. I'm experienced in teaching engineering, coding, mathematics, mechanics, electronics, measurement science as well as broader skills such as mathematics, statistics, design, research and drawing. I've taught from secondary school right up to master's degree students and train people in the workplace. I've taught physics of sailing to the British Olympic team, university students in 3 British universities (Southampton, Newcastle and Bristol). I hold a PhD in engineering and professional certifications in Labview, Matlab and SolidWorks. I am also a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA).

Perfect! Josh made sure I understood all the content that he taught me to a degree that I needed, he would even go a little bit overtime to ensure that I understood the material. If I needed practice on certain areas, he would help me find material and questions that I could have a go at solving in order to gain a better understanding of the topic. I would 100% recommend Josh and use him again in the future if I needed help with any other subject.
