My teaching method is to make complex ideas and abstract concepts accessible to my students. I embrace current and real-world examples so that the relevance of each theory is clear. I strive to use language that is easy to grasp rather than overly academic. My lessons are based on staggered learning, continuous assessment, and frequent feedback.
I am a PhD canditate who has been involved in academic teaching (tutoring and lecturing) since 2011. Education is my passion and the success of my students is of utmost importance to me. My expertise lies in the critical study of visual and material culture, and I have taught at undergraduate and postgraduate level as well as supervised student research.
*Please note that I will only be available for tutoring from 20 May 2019 onwards*
*First lesson acts as a consultation to help us strategise a lesson plan for tailored tutorials*
I currently lecture in the Visual Arts Department of Stellenbosch University. This includes the teaching and coordination of undergraduate courses (since 2015) and postgraduate courses (since 2018).
I also tutor Communication Studies and Media Studies for UNISA at undergraduate level (since 2017) and I have guest lectured at the Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography and the Cape Town Creative Academy (CTCA).
