I make classes fun , I use a lot of visual material and enjoy creating a dialogue between the student and myself.
My first aim would be to understand what the student wishes to gain from this class, whether its business English requiring the language for a specific skill or something work related in a certain field.
An example would be if I was teaching English to a room filled with engineers , I'd keep the lesson relevant and to the point , discussing topics that would interest the students and keep them motivated in relation to engineering.
My approach does change depending on the students level of English and age.
I like to interact and allow the students to do most of the speaking and I only give reassuring feedback which builds their confidence.
I like to include games and articles from magazines or subjects that are relevant to the specific lesson to keep the lesson interesting.
I also encourage the student to bring material that is of interest to them so that we they feel confident and engaged through out the lesson.
I started teaching in 2008 after I completed my qualifications. This has allowed me to travel and live in some extremely remote places where I had to learn all about the cultures and languages of the locals in order to survive and thrive. I have taught in many fields, some which include : swimming, English , surfing , diving, cooking, life guarding, field guide and survival skills.
