About Katy
I started plonking on the piano at 6 months old, and the passion grew since then. I have studied piano for over 25 years, hold my grade 8 piano qualification from ABRSM (distinction) and am working towards my licentiate in music education. I have tutored many students aged 3 to 80+. I am passionate about laying a solid foundation of musical understanding that can lead you in any direction - classical, jazz or modern.

I start each lesson with a brief music theory lesson, followed by exercises to build strength, skill and dexterity. This is achieved through short skills exercises as well as pieces of music chosen to develop specific skills. I like to end each lesson by working on a specific piece that the student is passionate about, whether it be a Beethoven sonata or the latest pop hit.
