As a tutor, I first will ensure that students know what's necessary of them for their specific course, helping them with anything they may struggle with.
I will then help them improve their exam techniques, through my knowledge of how the examiners mark papers and my first-hand experience as a GCSE student.
The entire tutoring experience is centred around the pupil, helping them to utilise their abilities and ensuring they leave the class more confident and reassured than when they entered.
Due to being a student myself, I understand how difficult it can be to remember everything taught, and often a student just intends to memorise and regurgitate without fully understanding, however, it's of importance to me that a student understands what they're being taught, because it helps them to remember everything and ensure they have a depth of knowledge.
I'm an A-Level student, and I have recently completed all my GCSEs in the new 9-1 format.
From the 3 years I spent in KS4 preparing for my GCSEs, I have gained knowledge of the GCSE 9-1 specification requirements, and I know what examiners are looking for in student answers, as well as what's important to focus on as a student during revision periods and how to prepare for exams. I have experience teaching the new 9-1 curriculum to GCSE students, filling any gaps in knowledge and helping them through homework, or preparation for end of topic/year exams.
I have taught GCSE students, helping them to prepare for their exams, and ensuring that when they walk into the exam hall they're confident and assured that they're going to do their best. The students I've taught have all said that my simple explanations, and way of teaching are easily understandable and they retain the information a lot longer than they would in class.
