About the lesson
I am proficient in English and can offer help in many areas of the language for children. I like to make my lessons and activities fun and creative for children under 9. I believe learning should be exciting and joyful because that's how you create lifelong learners.
Despite my preference for working with younger children I am capable to help older children, even high school learners, with their language skills. For older children I can tutor in Maths Lit as well.
I am someone who tailors my lessons according to how a learner learns. I like to look for new, exciting ways to present a lesson that is suited to their learning style.
I am a lover of the English language and literature! I grew up a bookworm and always believed in the power and confidence language can give you if you know it well. As I am typing this I am currently completing my second year in my B.Ed. in Foundation Phase course at UWC.
In 2018 I completed my ECD NCV qualification and returned to high school in 2019 to complete matric so I could go to university. During my time from 2016 - 2019 I volunteered at Red Cross Children's Hospital, Lansdowne Library, I worked part-time at Masjid-Ul Quds as an assistant teacher, and I completed my teaching practicals at Baby Bear Clubhouse - a preschool in my area. I would be requested by the preschool to help out during my studies from time to time.
I love learning and teaching! I love to create lessons and activities that are exciting and new for my learners. I believe it's important to make learning fun to promote enthusiasm in learners and make the experience of learning enjoyable and memorable.
I use a mindful approach to teaching and put a lot of emphasis on mental health. Learning can be stressful when it feels like you do not understand anything. I make a conscious effort to be gentle and patient when teaching so learners can feel free to learn at their own pace.
