Who is Yung Pueblo?
Diego Perez was born on 25 November 1988 in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He writes under the nom de plume or pseudonym of Yung Pueblo.
But why does he use a pen name? Here are the two reasons why:
- It reminds him of his roots and where he comes from. Pueblo is a word that is used in Guayaquil and it refers to the economic poverty of the masses.
- Yung Pueblo means 'young people'. Diego believes that people on this earth are very 'young' and have a lot of growing up to do. He hopes that in the next 100 years, we will learn more about how to be kind to each other and just be better humans overall.
As early as 15 years of age, Diego became interested in activist organisations and the idea of liberation intrigued him. Although he was engaged in activities that he found interest in, he still had emotional turmoil and misery and still searched for something more. When he was 24 years old he attended his first 10-day Vipassana mediation course. He was astounded. Everything he believed in changed. It made him realise that liberation needs to take place inside yourself before it can truly create a change in the world.
One of the most important lessons he learned was 'if we heal ourselves, then we heal the world'.
He started to meditate regularly and when he started to transform he began to write deep, meaningful poems, essays and quotes about his experiences along his life's journey.

Meaningful Poems
Friendship has tremendous value in your life. It's an enriching experience that helps you get through the bad times and to celebrate the good times. Pueblo feels the same and that is why he has written a few poems about friendships and why it is important to celebrate them. Here are two that stood out to us:
"never forget
the ones who
saw greatness
in you even in your
darkest moments"
As you can see, he shares the sentiment of the importance of friendships in one's life and how valuable and meaningful they can be.
"who you choose to walk and grow
with is a major part of life; may they
lift you up in hard times; rejuvenate
you when you are tired and remind
you of how powerful you truly are"

Healing Poems
Diego Perez aka Yung Pueblo believes that we can only transform the world into a better place once we dive deeper into the abyss of our own souls to heal, grow and reach a certain level of emotional maturity.
So that we can turn the light on within ourselves and then go out and shine that light onto others around us, creating a better world to live in for us all. Here are three healing poems that could be valuable in your own healing journey:
"a change in environment can help
a change in mindset can heal"
Here is the second one:
“and so she moves forward,
with a little more wisdom,
a heart that is more open
to love, and with a mind
that welcomes deep healing
r e l e a s e”
And finally:
"as ger awareness grew, the
illusion of limitation and
separation slowly vanished.
one day, she observed
herself more deeply
and realised that the atoms
in her body are the same stars
that she sees in the night sky."
